Higher Horizons Challenge

Sandon are Winners!

Congratulations to our two teams of Year 10 students who achieved a place in the finals of the inter-schools competition hosted by Harper Adams University.

Their creative ideas and teamwork achieved success as we took 1st place and 3rd place winning prizes!

Competing against other schools from Stoke and Staffordshire – each team of students had to ‘adopt’ a university and present their ideas for a new marketing campaign to attract new recruits. The judges panel comprised the Marketing Director from Harper Adams, Recruitment and Outreach Director from Keele and the Entrepreneur Elliott Shuttleworth from ‘Flipout’ (Business Graduate from Aston University).

The winning team of the Higher Horizons Challenge Trophy : with their presentation on Harper Adams – involved Y10 students Laura Merriott, Ellie-Mae Oldham, Ezra Darley, Chloe Ferrar, Mehak Naz and Daniyal Shahid. The judges praised an excellent presentation which showed well researched information and ideas – which the Director from Harper Adams wants to adopt. He also said the musical jingle (yes we took the keyboard with us !) was very professional.

The Chester University Team led by Harriet Cummings and with their mascot Chester the monkey took 3rd place. Well done to Chloe Powell, Mathew Thorley, Lanie Cundy and Abby-Louise Weston. The judges loved the idea of the ‘animal antics’ campaign linked to student life and the nearby Chester Zoo e.g. Come and be a ‘Roaring Success’ at Chester Uni.

Well Done to the Teams ! All our students have won a day out at Flipout (Trampoline Park in Stone).
